Then and Now - Lower Sandy Lane

Here are two early views from near the bottom of Sandy Lane looking back up with Witham Road off to the left, Russells newspaper and sweetshop on the left facing corner.
Across the road on the right we see what was to become Buntin's fruit Shop, Chivers' Sweet Shop and Hulme's Chip Shop (see the page on Sandy Lane Shops in the 'Streets' book)- what they were at the time of this photo I'd like to know.
On the second one can be seen Billy Gregson's Garage.
