  1. I am trying to find a photograph of the Robin Hood on Spencers Lane as this is where my family lived and they are on the 1901 census. Alice Allen, formerly Ashcroft, nee Chisnall, was my great-great grandmother. I am having no success whatsoever with this quest.

  2. Looking for family members. I am the daughter of Harry and Margaret Bennett who imigrated to America in 1956. Harry was one of eleven brothers and sisters who were brought up at Whiteledge Farm in Spencers Land and Ormskirk Road, Tawd Brige.
Brother Jim,William, Bert, Jack, Alf and Walter. Jim was killed in the war. Bert went to Australia. Sisters, Gertrude, susannah and Elizabeth. I would appreciate any information you may have about this family. My last visit was in 1997 and I was able to meet a few counsins at that time along with my aunt by marriage Louie, married to Tom.

  3. MY NAN AND GRANDAD HAD THE WHITE LION PUB AT HOLLANDMOOR SKELMERSDALE MY MUM WAS BORN THERE MARGARET ASHURST COLIN MARJORIE ANYBODY REMEMBER

  4. Hi Wendy,
I’m just researching some family members who I’m related to who were publicans here. I’m a descendant of the Grundy family and one line of the family took over this pub from about 1840 to at least 1901. Would this be your family also?

  5. James Latham, husband of Phoebe Berry, was a publican at 69 High Street for at least 10 years (1891-1901). Does anyone know the name of the pub?

  6. A past relative was listed in the 1901 census as living at 42-44 wigan road and being a beerseller, it has Pub written next to it too and it also says own account. Presumably 42-44 was a pub? But I cannot locate this anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be? Next door is the council offices if this helps?? Also, other relatives owned the Engine Inn on 75 Liverpool Road but there does not seem to be much information out there on this either. Has anyone got any memories or information on this either? I am not from Skelmersdale but many of my family are and so I find this website facinating! Many Thanks.
